Facilities
Camp Brookside facilities will be updated to make the camp accessible for people with disabilities.
Originally developed as a summer camp for children of employees of Elkem Metals, there are 16 structures on site that will be preserved while being updated to become central elements to the proposed educational camp. The structures include wooden primitive cabins, a dining hall, a management residence, and restrooms. These structures are clustered at the north end of the island, near unique plant life, rock outcropping's and Brooks Falls on the New River. This island is known as an
Applachian Flatrock Community, one of only three found in the NRGNR.
