Joseph Friedl Award In recognition of former Professor Joseph Friedl, the SGA established this award in his honor. It is given yearly to a faculty member who is not only an outstanding teacher, but also involved with students outside of the classroom. This professor realizes the importance of both excellent teaching in the classroom and social interaction, with students, outside of the classroom.
Professor Joseph Friedl (1948-1959) was well respected by the students he encountered in his classrooms, the students on his athletic teams and by his involvement with students outside of the classroom. This award was established, by the SGA, to honor both his memory and the professors who exemplify the same ideals, dedication and spirit.
Nominations from students are required to provide an explanation for why they believe their professor is deserving of this honor, especially how he/she has demonstrated the characteristics attributed to Prof. Friedl.
