ACCEPTANCE OF ADVANCED PLACEMENT CREDIT

 

 

SECTION       1.         GENERAL

1.1           Scope:  This establishes a policy for the acceptance of Advance Placement credits at Concord University.

SECTION       2.         PURPOSE

2.1           To establish a policy for the acceptance of Advance Placement credits at Concord University.

2.2.       Concord University believes it is important for students at all

      educational levels to strive for intellectual achievement.  The Advanced Placement Program of the College Board is an instrument that encourages students to document college-level achievement through successful completion of advanced placement examinations.

2.3       Concord University continues to encourage students to participate in this program which allows Concord credit upon the successful completion of advanced placement examinations.

 

SECTION       3.         GUIDELINES FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF ADVANCED

PLACEMENT CREDIT

3.1.      High school students completing advanced placement examinations of The College Board with a minimum score of 3 will receive academic credit at Concord University according to an approved list of examinations and Concord credit.

3.2       When the examination is in the student’s major, Concord will award credit toward the major or core curriculum.

3.3       A Concord academic department may, upon the approval of the faculty, require a score higher than 3 on an advanced placement examination if the credit is to be used toward fulfilling course requirements for a major in the department.

3.4       Credits awarded by regionally accredited institutions of higher education for successful completion of advanced placement exams are transferable to Concord if in accordance with the advanced placement policy and guidelines of Concord University.
