Concord University seeks a faculty member with primary duties of teaching and scholarly activities in the field of outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism. Concord University is located in a rural area of the Allegheny Mountains near outstanding whitewater and mountain sports venues. The planning, development, management and operations of natured-based tourism businesses, organizations and programs will be major focus of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Teaching and advising at the undergraduate level, supervision of interns, program and curriculum development, scholarly activity, professional service to the region and state. Candidates should be able to teach some combination of technical skills in recreation as well as core courses in a recreation curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree is a minimum requirement – Doctorate required for tenure to be awarded. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating a history of successful teaching at the baccalaureate level and professional experience in the field of recreation and tourism. Experience in any of the following areas is desirable: expertise in nature tourism, adventure travel, outdoor education or outdoor recreation; a history of professional and public service; research and scholarly activity; grant writing.
