SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF ATHENS-CONCORD TOWN SOCIAL

Adopted May 19, 1992

The Town Social's objectives are:

A. To use "good, clean, old-fashioned fun and entertainment" to create an atmosphere in which the people of Athens, the Concord College community, and visitors can enhance mutual understanding through social interaction.

B. To provide a free picnic meal to all participants.

C. To honor three individuals, selected by the Town Social committee:

1. The Total Community Involvement award, for someone who has been a key contributor to both the town and College;

2. The Elder Citizen award, the towns "official" veneration of one of its oldest residents; and

3. The Business Longevity award, recognizing someone who has contributed to Athens' life and economy for many years.

D. To allow area clubs and organizations to provide goods, services, and/or information to Town Social participants through booths and displays.

E. To conduct field-day-type games for children

F. To award a Town Social Scholarship to Concord College for an area resident when funds permit. Selection is made by the Concord Financial Aid Office and the Town Social Chairman, with advice from the Concord Admissions Office and the Town Social committee.

Area Served: The geographic area served by the Town Social includes but is not limited to the town limits of Athens, West Virginia. Its area ends approximately at the environs of Princeton and Hinton. All individuals, clubs, and organizations primarily situated in this area shall be welcome to participate in all the above activities, provided that they recognize the following.
