SIMMERMAN NAMED INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
AT CONCORD COLLEGE
John Keith Simmerman of Beckley has been named information systems specialist at Concord College, according to John Spencer, director of computer services and institutional research.
Mr. Simmerman holds an A.S. in General Studies from Mount Aloysius Junior College and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Gallaudet University. He also holds certifications with UNIX Tools and Utilities, C Advanced Programming, and UNIX Programming. Simmerman served as a computer specialist with the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, and as a physical science aide with the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
"My education from Gallaudet gave me an excellent background in computer science. I was looking for a position in southern West Virginia, and was very fortunate to find this job. Supervisors, Joe (Woodrum) and John (Spencer) are great to work with," commented Mr. Simmerman.
At Concord, Simmerman will be responsible for overseeing the security of the campus LAN, maintenance of the new network structure, installation of network equipment and cable, as well as all software related problems for students residing in Concord’s residence halls.
