Marcella Snyder Joins Concord College Staff

Marcella Snyder recently joined the Concord College staff as the resident director of the college’s North Tower residence hall, coordinating resident assistant programming, selection, and training. Snyder began her duties at Concord on January 4, and will be coordinating the efforts of 35 resident assistants in helping new students make the transition from home life to college life as comfortable as possible. "We hope to get campus residents together to build community in the residence halls," Snyder said.

Snyder brings experience to her new position at Concord. She was a resident assistant for the housing and residence life office for two years at West Virginia Wesleyan College. In the fall of 2000 she became a graduate assistant, managing a co-ed residence hall for three semesters before moving to Concord. Snyder has also worked as an administrative assistant in a HUD-assisted apartment complex in Buckhannon, WV.

"We are pleased with her enthusiasm, can-do spirit, and experience," said Rick Dillon, director of housing and residence life. "We were glad we were able to find her at mid-year," he added, noting that it is always a challenge to find people to fill positions in the middle of the school year. Dillon also added that Snyder was his first choice and was pleased that the hiring committee agreed.

William R. Skeat, College Center director and coordinator of student affairs said

Marcella will be a valuable addition to the campus and the program.

Originally from Buckhannon, Snyder is a 2000 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in management and computer information science. She also plans to complete a Master’s program in business administration at Wesleyan in May 2003.
