Concord Welcomes New Faculty & Staff

 

Dr. Dean W. Turner, vice president and academic dean, welcomed both returning faculty and staff and new faculty and staff to Concord College’s 131st academic year.  Almost 200 people were in attendance at the 9:00 a.m. opening ceremony in the College Center Ballroom on Friday, August 16.

The dean introduced the following new faculty members:

            At the orientation ceremony, President Jerry Beasley thanked those who prepared the campus for the fall semester and the faculty who advised 640 students over the summer.  “Our enrollment will be close to last year’s enrollment of 3,055,” he stated.  He also thanked faculty members Dr. Thomas Brewster and Ms. Kathy Hawks for teaching the College’s first Master’s-level classes this summer, and Dr. Stephen Rowe and the technology center committee for their hard work the past year. 

The President hosted a reception for new faculty members at his home, and a dinner for faculty and staff in the College Center Ballroom.
