Athens, W.Va. – The prestigious Colorado Quartet
is giving a string concert Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at 8 p.m. in the Main
Theater of the Alexander Fine Arts Center at Concord University.
Violinists Julie Rosenfeld and Deborah Redding,
violist Marka Gustavsson and cellist Diane Chaplin will provide intense
interpretations of Beethoven and Mozart. The all-female quartet has been
recognized at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and received
the Naumburg Chamber Music Award.
“The Colorado Quartet is superb in its duty as
servants of the music,” says David Denton of Fanfare Magazine. “Intonation is
impeccable, and the razor-sharp precision is a major contributor in my
enjoyment.”
The Colorado Quartet is a Quartet-in-Residence
at Bard College and Conservatory in New York, where members teach private
classes and give courses on the literature of the string quartet. Their
performances are noted for musical integrity, impassioned playing and lyrical
finesse.
Tickets are available at the Concord University
box office an hour before the concert and cost $5 for adults, $4 for senior
citizens and $2 for non-Concord students.
