CU VPAD Closes Science Building for Spring 2008 Semester
Athens, W.Va. – The following announcement was issued today to the students, faculty and staff of Concord University by interim Vice President and Academic Dean, Dr. Stephen Rowe: “The Science Building will be closed for the spring 2008 semester. As announced previously, elemental mercury has been detected on the third floor, and Concord has contracted a professional hazardous waste disposal company for remediation. The building is being closed to permit the hazmat firm to complete its search and removal process.
“Our office is working with the Natural Sciences Division to establish alternate locations for classes and faculty offices. The plan of action is to be in place by the end of this week, so students, faculty and staff are urged to consult University media and posted notices about the revised term schedule.”
