FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 16, 2008
Athens, W.Va. – Brandi Cox, cost accountant with Tyco Electronics, Global Automotive Division, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Concord University graduate, will be speaking at Concord University on Thursday, April 17 at 11 a.m. in the Rahall Center, room 318. The public is invited to attend. Ms. Cox’s presentation will be: “How to Find a Job and How a Job Finds You.” Cox is originally from the Beckley area.
Dr. Kendra Boggess, professor of business and chair for the Division of Business, said when Ms. Cox was a student at Concord that she was “an outstanding and efficient work-study student.”
“Students usually don’t understand the process for finding their first job,” continued Dr. Boggess. “Moreover, some may be timid about leaving ‘home,’ wherever that is, to look for
work. Ms. Cox will be telling her story … what she had to do … to find that first job and then to network as a means to advance her career.
“When we have students who have gone out and been successful, we like to bring them back so students who are sitting in the same seats that Brandi was sitting in will think, ‘I can do that,’” she concluded.
