BB&T Makes Third Installment on $50,000 Pledge

Athens, W.Va. – At the Donor Appreciation banquet held on April 14, 2008, Vice President and City Executive Larry Ratliff, and Vice President and Trust Specialist Jenny Ware from BB&T’s Princeton office presented Jerry L. Beasley, president of Concord University, a check for $7,500.  The gift is the third installment toward a $50,000 pledge to the Concord University capital campaign, “At the Crossroads.”

Concord University has completed the most successful capital campaign in its history, securing in excess of $35,000,000.  Funds raised through the capital campaign will be used for a number of projects, including University Point, which will house the Wilkes Family Interfaith Chapel & Museum and the Erickson Alumni Center; student scholarships; funding for faculty development; and improvements to the University’s facilities.

“BB&T is once again pleased to honor its ongoing commitment to Concord University through the Concord Foundation.  We are certainly proud to be a partner to such a wonderful educational institution that has given so much to southern West Virginia and the surrounding region,” noted Mr. Ratliff.

Concord University President, Dr. Jerry Beasley, said that, “BB&T has a commitment to supporting education that is laudable.  They have taken a leadership role with regard to supporting activities in the communities in which they serve.”
