Introducing New Faculty
The Division of Business at Concord University is excited to announce the addition of six new tenure-track faculty members. In fall 2011, we have hired two accounting faculty: Dr. Cynthia Khanlarian and Dr. Jie Luo, and two management faculty, Ms. Charlotte Davis (A.B.D.) and Dr. Mohan Pokharel.
Dr. Cynthia Khanlarian joins us after 15 years on the faculty at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro -- where she also earned an M.S. in Accounting and Ph.D. in Information Systems and Operations Management. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant and entrepreneur, owning several family businesses. She is currently teaching Accounting Information Systems, Taxation, and Business Ethics.
Dr. Luo has completed her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and the M.S. in Accounting from Virginia Tech. Her research interests are in the areas of consumer behavior, marketing, and the application of experimental economics in accounting and management issues. She is currently teaching Concord University’s Principles of Accounting courses.
Ms. Charlotte Davis, A.B.D., is completing her dissertation examining the effect of personal grief on the workplace from the University of Memphis and is expected to complete her Ph.D. in summer 2012. Ms. Davis has extensive corporate experience in accounting and management and has an MBA from Wayland Baptist University. She is currently teaching Principles of Management, Current Topics in Management, and International Business at Concord University.
Dr. Mohan Pokharel earned his Ph.D. in Organization Theory/Public Management from Virginia Tech and the M.S. in International Affairs from Columbia University. He most recently has taught business policy at both Virginia Tech and the University of Washington – Bothel. He also brings rich industry experience in international business and economic development. He is currently teaching the capstone course in Strategic Management and Advanced Topics in Management.
