Graduate Assistantships are now available for the Concord/New River CFWV Fellows Partnership. These GA positions will be responsible for performing the specific activities required to meet the goal of the partnership, ensuring that adult learners and first-generation college students are identified and provided the support needed to earn an associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree. Phase 1 of the program will allow for the identification of individuals who can benefit from the program, offering outreach and information regarding the (re)admission process, financial aid availability, and assisting with the enrollment process. Phase 2 will create on-campus support systems for the adult/returning students once they have (re)applied to New River and Concord.
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required. The applicant should also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, be comfortable working in a collaborative atmosphere and be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. A valid driver’s license is required.
Two Assistantships are available: one to be located at Concord University in Athens, WV, reporting to the Associate Academic Dean; one to be located at New River Community and Technical College in Beckley, WV, reporting to the Director of the Advanced Studies Program. Individuals hired will be employees of the Concord University Research and Development Corporation.
Each assistantship is available for one year (Spring, Summer and Fall terms, 2012) with the possibility of renewal for one additional year. Salary is $5,000 per semester, maximum of $15,000 per year of employment, for a 20 hour per week time commitment. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Funding for these assistantships is provided by a grant from WV Campus Compact. Renewal of the positions is contingent upon grant funding.
