Dr. Alecea Standlee joined Concord University in 2012 as an Assistant Professor of Sociology after receiving her Ph.D. from Syracuse University. She prides herself on being both a committed teacher and an innovative researcher. She has taught a wide variety of advanced and introductory courses at Syracuse University, University of Cincinnati, and online at Empire State College. She is particularly proud of her Qualitative Research Methods course that provides hands-on real research and the interdisciplinary Digital Culture and Social Behavior course that looked at how the Internet, social media, gaming, smartphones and texting have changed the interpersonal lives of college students Her current research examines the social and cultural implications of contemporary technology use among college students, with a specific interest on the role of socio-economic status. Alecea and her husband Jason currently live in Princeton, WV and are originally from the Pacific Northwest.
