Black History Events Scheduled For March
Athens, W.Va. - The Hampton University Concert Choir, under the direction of Royzell L. Dillard will be presenting concerts in the area Wednesday, March 8, 2000.
The concerts will be held at:
CONCORD COLLEGE, ATHENS, W.Va.
3:00 p.m. - Alexander Fine Arts Center, Main Theatre
BLUEFIELD STATE COLLEGE, BLUEFIELD, WEST VIRGINIA
7:00 p.m. - Basic Science Auditorium.
The Hampton University Concert Choir was started in 1870, in Hampton, Virginia, and has performed at some of the world’s finest concert halls and churches, including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Westminster Abbey and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. They have performed a wide variety of music, including Handel’s Messiah, Puccini’s Requiem and Off’s Carmina Burana. And, the choir has appeared with top artists such as Andre Crouch, and Barry Manilow.
Hampton University is a privately-endowed, non-profit, historically black university located in southeastern Virginia. It is composed of six schools: business, engineering and technology, liberal arts and education, nursing, pharmacy, and science.
