Michael Curry Named Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid at Concord College
Athens, W.Va. - Concord College President Jerry L. Beasley recently announced that Michael S. Curry, Princeton, W.Va., filled the position of vice president for admissions and financial aid.
Mr. Curry received a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Divinity from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1980, Curry received the Hopkins Share, the highest honor conferred upon a Harvard student by their faculty. He is the only West Virginian to have won the award. He also attended the University of Oklahoma, Center for Business and Economic Development, and the Institute for Charitable Giving, San Francisco, California.
Prior to coming to Concord, he was president and CEO of LOGOS Enterprises, Inc., a company that provided college counseling and scholarship services to students in West Virginia. Curry served for five years as corporate president of the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Foundation, and was a member of the board of directors of the Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center. He also served as an adjunct member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission.
His professional experience included tenure as assistant director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity under the Caperton administration where he helped develop empowerment zones. He also directed the Woodlands Mountain Institute’s Leadership Division for selected West Virginia high school students.
Curry is currently an executive board member of the West Virginia Harvard Alumni Association.
