Concord College Honor Society to Induct 23
Athens, W.Va. - The Concord College Chapter of the Alpha Chi National Collegiate Honor Society will induct 23 Concord students in a formal ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on April 19, 2000. The induction ceremony will be held in the State Room on the 2nd floor of the College Center. To be eligible for this honor, students had to meet the requirements of a 3.5 grade point average, exemplify personal character and scholarship, and receive nomination for membership from the Concord College faculty.
"I have been associated with Alpha Chi since 1985," stated Dr. Stephen Rowe, academic sponsor for Alpha Chi, "I like Alpha Chi," continued Rowe, "because they have the financial means to do things that other organizations only talk about. Funds for student activities come from student dues and from the national organization. Alpha Chi provides scholarships that both undergraduate and graduate students can compete for. Moreover, Alpha Chi will pay expenses for a student and their sponsor to attend their national conference. The honor society is required by the national organization to sponsor one ‘scholarly’ event on campus for the academic year. Some of the events Alpha Chi has sponsored in the past include speaker forums and academic discussions that are pertinent and relevant to students."
