War Between The States: Hear The Details at Concord on May 13
Athens, W.Va. - Concord College will be hosting its Annual Spring Banquet Saturday, May 13, at 5:00 p.m., in the College Center Ballroom. Cost for the banquet will be $15.
Concord College Professor of History David R. Bard will be featured speaker at the event. He will be discussing "The Civil War and Its Effects on the Formation of Concord." Dr. Bard is a respected expert on the Civil War, and was recently honored by the College for 30 years of teaching service. He conducts tours of the battlefields, teaches a Civil War course, and has most recently created three one-day driving tours of Civil War sites in the New River Valley.
Alumni Honored at Spring Banquet
The classes of: 1949-1951, 1959-61, 1969-71, 1974-76, 1979-81, and 1989-91 will be holding their reunions at the Spring Banquet. And, the class of 1950 will enjoy complimentary meals.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
Alumnus of the Year
(Someone who has made outstanding contributions to the Alumni Association and College)
Golden Alumnus
(An alumnus who has contributed greatly he Association and/or College for 25 years or more), and
Outstanding Alumnus
(An alumnus who has made great strides in their profession and/or community).
Faculty and staff members who are retiring will be honored as well, including;

Dr. Charles Beatty
The Spring Banquet is being held in conjunction with the College’s 125th Spring Commencement, which will be at 10:00 a.m. the same day.
