Planning Begins for Free Food, Fun and Prizes at the Athens - Concord Town Social
Athens, W.Va. - Plans are underway for the 14th Annual Athens-Concord Town Social - an exercise in down-home friendliness! The Town Social will be held Sunday, August 13, 2000 on the Concord College campus from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Town Social Planning Committee expects from 600 to 800 local residents and visitors to show up for the free food and fun.
Call for Exhibitors/Crafters
Craftspeople are invited to participate in the event, which is free to them, too! Town Social organizers will provide tables, chairs and a limited number of electrical connections.
Committee members include: Chairperson Dale Geiger, Treasurer Jean Beasley, Secretary Kati Whittaker, Cathy Rovera, Jennifer Johns-Gooding, Anne O’Sullivan, Elizabeth Kane, Anita Lewis, Georgia Kelly, Loretta Young, Mary Edna Beckett, Bob Schultz, Margaret Ann Scott and Eddie Kessinger.
The Town of Athens and Concord College jointly plan the social, which is traditionally held on the second Sunday of each August. The goal of the Town Social is to provide an opportunity for residents of the Town of Athens and surrounding areas, the Concord community and visitors to socialize in a small-town setting.
