Entertainment Committee Chairman Anne O’Sullivan reported that Joe Lively, an Athens resident, will serve as emcee for the social. Bands who will perform include: Across the Miles, headed up by Morgan and Rose Richardson from Surveyor in Raleigh County; Ed Hartman and his band from Athens; and The Homeless Band, headed up by Adam Cox and Chris Cavendish from Athens. “We’re excited that these folks have volunteered,” stated O’Sullivan, “because they have a following, and they know how to please a crowd.”
The Town of Athens and Concord College jointly plan the social, which is traditionally held on the second Sunday of each August. The goal of the Town Social is to provide an opportunity for residents of the Town of Athens and surrounding areas, the Concord community and visitors to socialize in a small-town setting.
