Athens-Concord Town Social: Space Still Available for Vendors
Athens, W.Va. - The Athens-Concord Town Social will be held Sunday, August 11, 2002 on the Concord College campus from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Town Social Planning Committee expects from 600 to 800 local residents and visitors to show up for the free food and fun.
Nominations accepted for total community involvement award
The general public is encouraged to nominate candidates for the 2002 Total Community Involvement Award. Forms and nominating criteria are available from committee members. Nominees must contribute to both the Town of Athens and Concord College.
Call for Exhibitors/Crafters
Town social organizers say space is still available for crafts and exhibits. This is an excellent opportunity to market handmade items in southern West Virginia. A limited number of tables, chairs and electrical connections will be available, so craftspeople are encouraged to register early.
Music for 2002
Sarcus and Ed Hartman’s Midnight Ramblers will provide musical entertainment, and Joe Lively, from Athens, W.Va., will emcee the event. Visitors will hear blue grass, old-time and modern music.
The Town of Athens and Concord College jointly plan the social, which is traditionally held on the second Sunday of each August. The goal of the Town Social is to provide an opportunity for residents of the Town of Athens and surrounding areas, the Concord community and visitors to socialize in a small-town setting.
