Concord Junior Fills Position in National College Honor Society
Athens, W.Va. - Erin Thorn, a Concord junior from Elizabeth, W.Va., was elected the Region V student representative to the Alpha Chi National Council held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C., from April 10-13. There she took part in the functions of the council, such as planning the national conference, amending the Alpha Chi constitution, and selecting scholarship winners.
Dennis M. Organ, Ph.D., Alpha Chi Executive Director: "As one of only seven students on the National Council, Thorn will have an extraordinary opportunity to develop leadership skills and provide important direction for Alpha Chi, with its more than 300 campus chapters and more than 11,000 new members inducted annually."
This is a significant office, according to Organ, as well as a prestigious position.
"Concord College is pleased that one of our students was elected to this position," stated Concord President Jerry Beasley. "Our faculty continues to focus on rigorous academics, and students continue to seek leadership opportunities. I applaud her involvement with this scholarship society."
