High School Geography Bowl to be Held at Concord
Athens, W.Va. - Dr. Joseph T. “Joe” Manzo announces the second annual High School Geography Bowl, to be held Saturday, March 15, at the College Center, Concord College, Athens, W.Va. The event is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
Dr. Manzo, professor of geography, stated that, “This event is an excellent opportunity for students to test their knowledge of geography in an atmosphere that is competitive and fun. Students learn lessons from this event that will benefit them the rest of their lives. Last year’s winner was University High School from Morgantown. Students get to mingle with their peers from other high schools in West Virginia in an academic setting that is very rewarding.”
Participating schools include: Brooke County High, Charleston Catholic, Grafton High, Magnolia High, Meadow Bridge High, Morgantown High, North Marion High, Pikeview High, Princeton High, Woodrow Wilson High, Riverside High, Shady Spring High, St. Mary’s High, Tug Valley High, Tygarts Valley High, University High, Webster County High, Wilson High, and Wyoming East High.
This event is sponsored by the West Virginia Geographic Alliance. The Alliance receives support from the West Virginia Legislature, the State Board of Education, and the National Geographic Society.
