Athens-Concord Town Social: Committee, Entertainment Announced
Athens, W.Va. - Plans are underway for the 17th Annual Athens-Concord Town Social—an exercise in down-home friendliness! The Town Social will be held Sunday, August 10, 2003 on the Concord College campus from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Town Social Planning Committee expects from 600 to 800 local residents and visitors to show up for the free food and fun.

The committee for the 2003 Town Social is: Chair/Treasurer Jean Beasley, Co-chair Georgia Kelley, Vice Chair Anne O’Sullivan, Secretary Pat Edge, Mary Edna Beckett, Kevin Bennington, Tom Bone, Gene Fields, Jim Hardin, Bill Hodges, Elizabeth Kane, Lori Keaton, Randy Keaton, Ann Kessenger, Eddie Kessinger, Joyce Kessinger, Anita Lewis, Margaret Ann Scott, Lynne White and Kati Whittaker.
Music for 2003 Announced
Sarcus and Ed Hartman’s Midnight Ramblers will provide musical entertainment. Visitors will hear blue grass, old-time and modern music, too. Both groups are back by popular demand! Joe Lively will serve as emcee.
Call for Exhibitors/Crafters
Craftspeople are invited to participate in the event, which is free to them, too! Town Social organizers will provide tables, chairs and a limited number of electrical connections.
The Town of Athens and Concord College jointly plan the social, which is traditionally held on the second Sunday of each August. The goal of the Town Social is to provide an opportunity for residents of the Town of Athens and surrounding areas, the Concord community and visitors to socialize in a small-town setting.
