South Carolina Artist to Exhibit at Concord Beginning Monday, October 27
Athens, W. Va. - Drawings by South Carolina-based artist, Scotty Peek, will be on exhibition at the Arthur Butcher Gallery, located in the Alexander Fine Arts Center at Concord College, Monday, October 27 through Friday, November 21, 2003. The title of the show is “Related.”
“Working fairly large, Mr. Peek has utilized a variety of subjects in his drawings. The emphasis of this exhibition will be a new series of drawings that Mr. Peek has been doing of his relatives,” stated gallery director Steve Glazer.
Scotty Peek attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., where he earned a BFA, with a concentration in drawing. In 2000 he was awarded the MFA, with a major in drawing and a minor in 3-D design from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. He is currently the preparator at USC’s McKissick Museum and an adjunct drawing instructor at the University of South Carolina. He also teaches adult drawing classes at the Columbia Museum of Art. His work has been featured in several recent Artista Vista celebrations in Columbia, and his innovative installations have become an important part of Sumter’s “Accessibility” projects.

A reception for Mr. Peek will be held Monday, October 27, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Gallery.
