Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration at Concord, Monday, January 19
Athens, W. Va. – The general public is invited to attend the celebration of the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., at Concord College, Monday, January 19, 7 p.m., Main Theatre, Alexander Fine Arts Center.
Elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as Concord College students will present winning essays based on the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The intent of the essay contest is to provide all students with an opportunity to learn about Dr. King, his message and his work and to give students an opportunity to reflect on our present and the future in light of Dr. King’s message.
A panel composed of Concord College faculty and staff and members of the community will select the winning essays.
The ConChords will offer a special musical tribute. Skilled storyteller and poet, Shindana Cooper, will deliver the keynote address, entitled “Martin and Me.”
