Philadelphia Classical Guitar Trio to Perform at Concord College, Thursday, March 25
Athens, W. Va. - The Philadelphia Classical Guitar Trio will enlighten and entertain at Concord College, Thursday, March 25, 2004,at 8 p.m., in the main auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.
Marisol Rampolla, Michael Simmons and Thomas Smith will delight with their unique sound of classical and Hispanic music. The program will include songs from artists such as Joplin, Cervantes and Bizet.
The trio will perform for the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour 2004, Associacion Musicos de Latinoamericanos, and the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society. The trio was featured at the 1999 Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Puerto Rico. Their CD was released in 2000 featuring songs they will perform at Concord.
Marisol Rampolla studied in Spain with Jose Tomas and David Russell. She also teaches at the Community College of Philadelphia, Settlement School of Music and Ancillae Assumpta Academy. Michael Simmons teaches at the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Penn., and the Woodlynde School in Strafford, Penn. The Pedrick-Hutson Duo has recorded Thomas Smith’s recent composition of “River Rising.” He also has many other published arrangements that will be performed at the concert.
