Forty-Third Annual Honors Banquet Held at Concord

Athens, W.Va. - The Cardinal Key and Blue Key Honor Societies of Concord College hosted the forty-third annual Honors Banquet, Thursday, April 22, 6:30 p.m. in the State Room of the College Center.
Invited guests included those graduating with honors and those receiving special honors in their field, as well as Dr. Beryle Santon, president of the Concord College Alumni Association; Ms. Jean Beasley, wife of President Jerry Beasley; and Ms. Sherri Turner, wife of Dr. Dean Turner.
Dr. David K. Baxter, sponsor for the Blue Key Honor Society served as emcee for the event. “This is a form of recognition for outstanding achievements,” he noted.
Dr. Dean Turner, vice president and academic dean, said, “Bravo to all of you for the accomplishments we are celebrating.” He also noted that Dr. Beasley was attending meetings out-of-town and apologized for him not being able to attend.
Students received honors for excelling in their field of study and for high academic performance. Summa cum laude represents a GPA (grade point average) of 3.80 or higher, magna cum laude represents 3.60-3.79, and cum laude represents a GPA between 3.30-3.59.
