Conchords to Perform Tuesday, November 30 at Concord
Athens, W.Va. - The ConChords will perform Tuesday, November 30 at 7 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Center Art Gallery (lobby area). The Concord University Barbershop Quartet will also perform several selections.
ConChords is a select choral ensemble directed by Dr. Christopher Ryder, assistant professor of music at Concord. The group is made up of 24 students of various majors. The ConChords have just returned from a tour to Nashville, Tennessee, where they gave two performances at Belmont University.
The program includes chamber music repertoire from the Renaissance to the 21st Century, including compositions by Giovanni Palestrina, William Byrd, Felix Mendelssohn, and Randall Thompson. The program also includes more contemporary repertoire, including songs by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and James Taylor.
The Concord University Barbershop Quartet will also perform several selections, and selected Concord voice students will perform selections from Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.”

There is no admission charge, and the concert is open to the public.
