That’s Entertainment” Theme For Concord University’s Annual Homecoming Celebration, October 3-8
Athens, WV – Concord University is preparing for a memorable homecoming 2005 with many special events in store for everyone at this year’s celebration, including a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility.
The last construction on the campus of Concord University occurred more than 30 years ago. Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held for the second new construction in as many years as University officials and guests celebrate the addition to the Concord University campus of “University Point,” which will include the Wilkes Family Interfaith Chapel, a museum and the Erickson Alumni Center. The celebration is slated for Friday, October 7 at 11 a.m. (additional information will be released at a later date).
Other events include a reunion for communication arts and fine arts graduates and the 1955 and 1980 football teams and homecoming queens. The communication arts and fine arts graduates are planning a dinner Saturday night in Princeton. The Concord theatre department will also be presenting their annual Homecoming production. Details will be announced when they become available. Concord sororities will hold their annual teas in their respective lounges Saturday before the game festivities begin.
Students on Concord’s campus will be competing in several different events throughout the week, including a lip-sync contest, billboards and banners contest, and homecoming king and queen. They will also participate in the annual homecoming parade on Vermillion Street. This year’s homecoming theme is “That’s Entertainment.”
