Roth 5K Walk/Run to be Held Tuesday, May 2--Will Benefit Concord Scholarship Fund
Athens, W.Va. - The 16th annual David S. Roth Memorial 5K Walk/Run will be held Tuesday, May 2. Registration begins at 5 p.m. in the lobby of Carter Hall on the Concord University campus in Athens. At 6:15 p.m., walkers and runners will begin a rolling 3.1 mile race course.
Sponsored by the Concord University Student Government Association, this annual walk/run honors the memory of Dr. David S. Roth, who taught English and journalism at the university from 1969 to 1986. Dr. Roth was an enthusiastic Mountain Lion fan who actively supported Concord athletics in his roles as statistician, reporter and announcer.
All proceeds from the walk/run will be donated to the David S. Roth Memorial Scholarship fund. The Roth Scholarship is awarded on the basis of an annual university-wide writing competition.
Trophies will be awarded to Walk/Run participants in various categories.
T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 who register and participate in the walk/run.
After the race, a drawing will be held for door prizes donated by Concord University Bookstore, Trophies and More of Princeton, Princeton Health and Fitness Center, Dandelion Gallery (Princeton), Starlight Books and Coffee (Athens) and Aramark Campus Dining Service.
Aramark will also donate refreshments of lemonade and fresh fruit.
The Walk/Run entry fee for the public is $12 (or $10 for registration by May 1). For students (from elementary school through university level), the entry fee is $6 (or $5 for registration by May 1). For information about early registration, contact Tom Davis at 1-304-384-3298 or email@example.com.
