Business Speakers to Present at Concord in October and November
Athens, W.Va. – The Division of Business at Concord University invites the public to attend the following presentations, to be held in room 320 in Marsh Hall in October and November.
Retirement Planning, Tuesday, October 24
Jason Lundsford, CRPS, AAMS, and Concord University alumnus returns to campus on October 24 at 11 a.m., in room 320 in Marsh Hall. He is a retirement planning specialist and will be presenting a symposium entitled “Investing for your Future and Planning for Retirement.” He is a business administration graduate who majored in finance while at Concord.
With over seven years of investment experience, Jason joined the Charleston, W.Va, investment firm of Ferris, Baker, Watts, Inc., in April 2005. Prior to joining this firm, his experience included individual investing with Charles Schwab Co. and institutional investing with BB&T Corp. He serves as team lead for the institutional group in Charleston. He conducts enrollment and education seminars and provides guidance on investment selection and overall investment and retirement planning process. He also insures that his clients limit their fiduciary liability by reviewing and documenting 404(c) compliance, plan investments, plan operations, and creates and implements investment policy statements.
He has qualified by exam as a General Securities Representative, a Uniform Securities Representative, and a Registered Investment Advisor. He received the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist and the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designations from the College of Financial Planning.
He resides in Charleston with his wife and son.
Healthcare Careers, Wednesday, November 8
The current CEO/Administrator of HealthSouth Southern Hills Rehabilitation Hospital in Princeton, W.Va., Sharon Tibbs Boggess, will address the topic “Current Health Care Issues.” She will also discuss “Student’s Pathways to Careers” in a symposium at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, in room 320 in Marsh Hall.
With more than six years of healthcare management experience with HealthSouth, Sharon has most recently held the role of Regional Director of Human Resources, overseeing operations for 24 rehabilitation hospitals in HealthSouth Corporation's Mid-Atlantic Region. Boggess completed her bachelor of business administration degree at Concord University (formerly Concord College) in Athens. She is a native of Princeton, where she currently resides with her husband, Todd, and children Benjamin and Olivia. She also serves on the board of directors for both the Jonathan Powell Hope Foundation and the Princeton Rescue Squad.
There will be time set aside after the presentations for attendee's questions.
