The Tradition Continues: CU to Host 20th Annual Phonathon
Athens, W.Va. – Students from various organizations at Concord University will begin “dialing for dollars” during the 20th annual Concord University Phonathon scheduled for Sunday, February 17 through Thursday, March 6. (Calls are not made on Fridays or Saturdays, and calls are made between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. EST.) Ms. Kati Whittaker, director of alumni affairs will be organizing the event.
“Proceeds from the Phonathon are used to support scholarships and faculty development,” stated Ms. Whittaker. “Students have a good time competing among themselves and with the other organizations for many great prizes provided by local businesses--including cash as a grand prize! Alumni and friends are encouraged to participate in a special challenge and donate on the nights that their favorite organizations are calling.”
Those who wish to give may use a credit card.
The Concord University Phonathon was started in 1988 under the direction of Dr. J. Douglas Machesney, former vice president for development, and Ms. Susan Williams Tuck, former alumni director. The Phonathon is in its 20th year.
