Concord University Serving Region in Four Locations
Athens, W.Va. - Concord University has expanded services in the region and is making education more accessible and convenient to students through four locations. In addition to Concord’s main campus in Athens and its center in Beckley, the University is also serving students from offices in Lewisburg and Princeton.
Under an articulation agreement between Concord University and New River Community and Technical College, students can now complete three degree programs on the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River in Lewisburg.
The first three programs to be offered under the agreement are Regents Bachelor of Arts, Recreation and Tourism Management, and Fine Arts. Students will complete their first two years with New River. Course credits will transfer to Concord, where they will continue their studies for a bachelor’s degree. These classes will be taught by Concord faculty at New River’s Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg.
Classes are already underway for the fall semester with an expanded schedule anticipated for the spring.
Concord’s Lewisburg office is on the New River campus located at 101 Church Street. Office hours are Mondays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m.
For further information about the Concord degree completion program in Lewisburg call Concord representative Helen Clay at 304-647-6560 or e-mail the office at email@example.com.
For the convenience of Princeton area residents Concord University has opened an office at 109 Morrison Drive in the Princeton Community Hospital Foundation House in Princeton.
“We provide people information about Concord and save them the need to drive up Rt. 20 to (the main) campus,” Dr. William O’Brien, director of Concord’s Beckley Center and off-campus programs, said.
The office is currently open Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
O’Brien said these office hours are “particularly tailored” to fit the schedules of working adults. Concord University Admissions Counselor John Thackston staffs the office.
“This is a full-service office for students where they can get information ... apply for classes, apply for admission, receive counseling, obtain class schedules, receive financial aid services,” Thackston said.
The Princeton office may be reached by calling 304-431-5183. Concord University in Beckley is housed in the new, state-of-the-art Erma Byrd Higher Education Center on University Drive in Beaver adjacent to I-64. This full-service center offers business concentrations in accounting, management, and marketing and features a bachelor’s degree in social work, selected classes in teacher education, and a full range of general studies courses designed to support these and Concord’s other degree programs.
The Beckley Center provides a variety of services tailored to the needs of the adult and part-time student. These include financial aid assistance, counseling, career education and job placement services, academic advising, tutoring, placement testing and registration services, textbook buyback options, scholarship support and work study opportunities.
Concord’s Beckley Center is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon through Sept. 12. For more information contact Tara Taylor at 1-304-256-0270 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
