University Point Dedication Set For May 15 At Concord University
ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University will mark a milestone event on Sunday, May 15, 2011 with the Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony of University Point. The program begins at 3 p.m. at the new facility. University Point is located on the front drive of the Athens campus.
“University Point, a dream that’s been on the hearts and minds of many Concordians, is now reality, and that indeed is reason to celebrate,” Concord University President Gregory F. Aloia said.
Calling this “a significant day in Concord’s history,” Dr. Aloia invites all alumni and friends of the University to attend.
A reception will follow the dedication in the John and Lucia Pais Family Fellowship Hall at University Point.
The events of May 15 provide an opportunity to honor the donors whose contributions have made University Point possible. Commanding a prominent location on campus, University Point is anchored by the Wilkes Family Chapel and Wilkes Family Museum, Erickson Alumni Center and John and Lucia Pais Family Fellowship Hall.
University Point is already serving Concord’s faculty, staff, students and alumni along with the local community and surrounding region. Weddings and other celebrations have taken place there along with meetings and banquets for civic groups and campus organizations.
The Concord University Office of Advancement is now housed in University Point. Alumni relations, marketing and public relations, development, career services and the Concord University Foundation, Inc. all operate from the facility.
