Flanigan Named Vice President For Student Affairs, Dean of Students at Concord University

ATHENS, W.Va. - Dr. Marjie Flanigan of Princeton has been selected to serve as Concord University Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. She will officially assume her duties July 1, 2011.
Flanigan received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Florida. She holds a doctorate of education in counseling from Virginia Tech.
“I am humbled to be given the honor to serve Concord as Vice President for Student Affairs,” Flanigan said. “I look forward to working with our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and community members to provide service and learning opportunities for our students. Concord has a strong, caring Student Affairs staff and I look forward to continuing our teamwork, assisting students.”
Flanigan has worked at Concord since 1996. She served as Director of Student Support Services for 12 years. Most recently, she has been Director of Retention, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and directed the work of the Academic Success Center.
“While acting as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Flanigan has also done an excellent job as the Director of the Academic Success Center,” Concord University President Gregory F. Aloia said. “We anticipate continued positive strides for Concord under her effective leadership.”
With Dr. Flanigan’s appointment to the position of Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, Concord plans to advertise for a new Director of Retention to lead the Academic Success Center.
