CONCORD UNIVERSITY PROVIDING
FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE
ATHENS, W.Va. – Free income tax preparation assistance for senior citizens, low income individuals and other qualifying persons is being offered by Concord University on the Athens campus Saturday, March 24, 2012 and Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The service is provided by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program which is co-sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service.
Certain eligibility requirements apply and appointments are necessary. To verify eligibility and to schedule an appointment call the United Way of the Virginias at 276-322-2606, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All tax preparers have received training through the program.
Concord University and Bluefield State College are partnering with the United Way of the Virginias to offer free income tax preparation assistance at locations across Mercer County during February. For more information call 276-322-2606.
