CONCORD UNIVERSITY ATHENS CAMPUS REOPENED
ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University’s Athens campus has been reopened following a bomb threat.
“We did have a threat,” Mark Stella, chief of campus public safety, said. “We feel at this point it is safe to open campus.”
“Multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency personnel responded. The entire Athens campus was swept. No threat was found,” he said.
Stella said the closure, evacuation, securing of individuals remaining on campus and search followed protocol and due diligence was used.
Classes have been cancelled on the Athens campus for Friday, March 2 and only essential staff, contacted by their supervisor, need to report for work on March 2. The Beckley campus will remain open on Friday, March 2.
