CONCORD UNIVERSITY HOLDING FOURTH ANNUAL CAREER SYMPOSIUM
ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University is hosting a career symposium on Friday, Oct. 5 that will offer students the chance to ask questions about a variety of career-related subjects. Alumni will be in several scheduled classes to share information with Concord students about life after college.
In addition to the panel of alums sharing information, there will also be some informal time when alumni will be in the chapel in University Point to talk individually with students, offer critiques on a student’s resume, or simply allow students the opportunity to network. Some students will also be invited to join alumni for lunch as an additional opportunity for networking.
In the past the event has provided students with great insight into future opportunities and expectations. Kelli Dunlap, a freshman, said “This seems like it’s going to give students a better chance to figure out a path for themselves.”
Any student with a specific career goal can contact Tammy Monk in Career Services to see if someone with similar interests will be participating in this year’s career symposium. She may be contacted at email@example.com or 304-384-5325.
A variety of careers will be represented by the alums including a conferencing manager, associate attorney, education technology consultant and speaker, child psychologist, college professor, student activities director, CPS social worker, senior tax associate, bank CFO, restaurant general manager and activities coordinator/naturalist. The alums work for businesses, law and accounting firms, federal and state government, and universities. Some of the alums have started their own companies, while others have had multiple careers.
Students can pick up a schedule of speakers at the Welcome Center in the Jerry L. Beasley Student Center or at The Rahall Technology Center. Both buildings are located on the Athens campus.
