MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION CONCERT FOR ETHAN
PLANNED AT CONCORD UNIVERSITY NOV. 29
ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Organizational Communication class (CART 270) is sponsoring a concert in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and a local child named Ethan. The concert, featuring several bands, will be held on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in the main auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center located on Concord’s Athens campus.
Donations for admission to the concert will be accepted at the door. All donations will sponsor Ethan’s trip to Disney which is his wish being granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Performers for the concert include Andy Crawford from Bluefield, Va., Brad Pruette from Lexington, N.C. and Sam Isenhour.
Crawford has a sweet and simple rock edge to his music. He performs mostly covers of songs by other artists.
Pruette is a folk/blues/roots player. He started out as a side man for local act Zach Tilley and has recently been touring and gigging around the country in such places as Charleston, S.C., Cleveland, Ohio, Seattle, Wash. and New Orleans, La. He is a strong blues enthusiast with a little mix of the North Carolina mountain music and cites influences ranging from Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy and John Mayer to acts such as Amos Lee, Mumford and Sons and Gregory Allen Isakov.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Southern West Virginia Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation currently serves 23 counties in West Virginia and granted 80 wishes last year.
Marisa Pedro, the regional manager of the Southern West Virginia Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, says, “I cannot thank Concord University and the students who organized this great event enough because every dollar raised stays local and stays in West Virginia. You truly are making an impact. Thank you for sharing in the power of a wish.”
