CONCORD UNIVERSITY’S CONCERT BAND PRESENTS
‘A STRANGE WAY TO TRAVEL’
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University’s Concert Band will be presenting “A Strange Way to Travel” on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.
The repertoire for this concert embodies the theme of travel in unordinary ways including “The Red Balloon” by Anne McGinty and “Ghost Train” by Eric Whitacre. Dr. David Ball, director of the ensemble, will also premiere a solo piece “Whirl and Flurry, Op. 152 (A Concertino for Euphonium & Wind Ensemble)” composed and dedicated to him by Concord’s very own Dr. Timothy L. Mainland.
All but one of the selections were written by American composers who are still living.
The Concert Band and Choir will also be going on a recruiting tour to area high schools April 24th-27th.
