CONCORD UNIVERSITY BEGINNING NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

 WITH FRESHMAN CONVOCATION

ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University will mark the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year with a Freshman Convocation on Monday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Main Theatre of the Alexander Fine Arts Center. This special ceremony is a time to welcome incoming students into the Concord community.

The Convocation Message will be delivered by Concord University graduate Christy McGinnis. Christy is a 2004 alumna of Concord and a native of Mt. Olive, WV. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and graduated with honors. Christy joined BB&T shortly after graduation and worked as a Relationship Banker and then a BB&T @Work Sales Officer where she enjoyed great success.

That success led her to a position as a Merchant Sales Consultant for which she was recognized for her sales acumen and productivity. For the past four years, she served as a Business Services Officer and had distinguished herself as a top producer and hard worker receiving the honor of the 2015 Best of the Best designation. Christy was recently named BB&T Market President for the Charleston Market.

She serves the Charleston community through her association with the Concord University Business Advisory Board and the Charleston YWCA – Girl Talk Mentoring program.

Christy resides in Dunbar, with her husband Zac, who is an assistant Fire Chief with the City of Dunbar.

Following the convocation, the traditional Tree Planting Ceremony in honor of the incoming students of 2017 will be held in the lawn between the Fine Arts Center and the Carter Center.
