Beckley Campus

Student Government Association

James Miller, the current Student Government Delegate representing Concord University's Beckley Campus at the Erma Byrd Higher Education Center, will be graduating in May.  Any Concord student who will still have a majority of their hours at the Beckley Campus in the fall of 2015, and can commit to attending the weekly SGA meeting Wednesday afternoons on the main campus is invited to apply for the fall 2015 delegate position.  Interested students can attend a meeting or two with James this spring to better understand SGA. The Beckley campus has had representation since 2012 which has resulted in students at the HEC having a voice in student government, and benefitting from a share of the SGA budget which sponsored many food and fun events.  Membership in Student Government on a collegiate level also speaks well to graduate schools, employers, and can open opportunities for scholarships.  If you are interested in being the Beckley SGA representative or in attending one of the meetings, please contact lpace@concord.edu.

Job Fair Planned for Thursday, February 26, 2015

Annually the RTM Special Events class hosts a career fair for all Concord students.  The fair provides a great opportunity for freshmen and sophomore students to begin networking with local employers and do some career exploration.  Junior and senior level students should be prepared to present themselves as professionals seeking internships or full-time employment opportunities.

Concord University will be hosting their annual Career Fair on Thursday, February 26, 2015, between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event will take place in the Concord University Ballroom.  Since Concord offers a wide variety of concentrations, employment opportunities are available nationwide and internationally, this Career Fair will help to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.  This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

For more information, feel free to contact Sarah Johnson, Administrative Assistant at (304) 384-6350 or sjohnson@concord.edu.

Looking for an on-campus job for Spring 2015?

On-campus jobs for students can be found at jobs.concord.edu.  There are limited jobs available so make this a priority if you hope to get an on-campus job.  You might also check with the Follett Bookstore and Aramark about employment possibilities.

The Alumni and Career Services offices have launched a new program in 2015—the Career Services Blog Series. Each month a different alum will be sharing advice related to their career, the job search process and/or how Concord helped prepare them for their career. Their posts will be featured on Concord’s website and through our social media outlets. We’ve got a great post to kick off the series and wanted to share it with the campus community. Special thanks to Jaime Metz Vandergrift ’02 for kicking off the series for us with a great post! To read her post and the February post click the link below:
