History of Outages

Information systems require maintenance from time to time.  At Concord University we have established our maintenance window to occur on Sundays from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  During this time ALL Concord systems are subject to maintenance and could be unavailable.  

Outages occurring outside the maintenance window, or extending beyond 11:00 AM on a Sunday, are listed below.
 

June 27, 2018: As of 8:30 a.m. we are actively experiencing problems with access to the file server preventing on-campus logins.  Services restored by 9:30 a.m.

June 22, 2018: Off-campus access to on-campus resources became unavailable at approximately 8:00 p.m. due to an interruption in the Domain Name System (DNS) service.  DNS corrections were made and services were restored beginning approximately 4:00 a.m. on Saturday.  Full propagation to other DNS providers did not complete until the morning of Sunday, June 24.  Off-campus users may have experienced

April 28, 2018: The Concord main web site was unavailable to a subset of users beginning at 8:00 PM, the pattern was unknown.  We ultimately restarted the server and it came back online at 10:10 PM.

April 20, 2018: While Blackboard was available we learned that Google Chrome version 66 distrusts our security certificates which we changed.  Blackboard was unavailable for three hours and back in service at 7:13 PM and available to Chrome 66 users.

April 17, 2018: While Blackboard was available we experienced a degradation in service as students could not submit assignments as attachments.  That problem was reported On April 16 and was corrected early April 17 at approximately 8:10 AM.

April 3, 2018: An unscheduled outage occurred that prevented access to Banner and MyCU between 8AM and approximately 10:45AM, at which point services were restored.

April 1, 2018: At approximately 7:50 PM we experienced a significant network and systems outage due to electrical power issues.  Banner, Blackboard, MyCU, CourseWeb, Listserv, file server, and telephone service were all interrupted.  Services were restored at approximately midnight.

February 20, 2018:  Banner out of service for maintenance from 9:00 PM for approximately 30 minutes.

January 4, 2018:  Banner and MyCU were down for emergency maintenance from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

December 18, 2017:  Blackboard outage due to extended maintenance, service restored at 2:37 PM.

November 7, 2017: CourseWeb outage due to unscheduled maintenance, outage lasted 25 minutes, service restored at 11:11 AM.

October 25, 2017:  Blackboard server required restart, outage lasted under 6 minutes, service restored at 10:44 AM.

September 17, 2017:  BlackboardCourseWebMyCU, and CUListServ outage due to extended maintenance, service restored at 11:13 PM.
