Department of Health Sciences

Welcome to the website for the Department of Health Sciences at Concord University. I invite you to take a look at the broad range of academic programs offered within the department. The department’s unique slate of undergraduate degree tracks include nationally accredited programs in Athletic Training and Wellness Education (physical education and health education).

The Department of Health Sciences also offers an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in Health Sciences. For the BS in Health Sciences students may choose an area of study in one of four tracks: Pre Physical Therapy, Pre Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Pre Professional studies.  We encourage students to select an area of emphasis that most closely aligns with their professional, academic, and career goals.  For those students who have both a personal and professional interest in health, physical activity, sport and/or wellness, the department endorses and Interdisciplinary Study degree in Physical Activity, Wellness, and Sport Studies.  Additionally for those students seeking something extra, the department offers minors in both Sports Medicine and Health Promotion.

For those students interested in pursuing a graduate degree, the Department of Health Sciences offers a Master of Arts in Health Promotion.
  • The Masters of Arts in Health Promotion is a 100% on-line degree.  The MA in Health Promotion prepares students to become highly trained health educators.
  • The program prepares Masters Candidates to meet the health needs of our society in a variety of work settings; including community and public health agencies, worksite and health promotion programs, schools, and other health organizations such as government agencies, state departments, and nonprofit organizations.

Please take some time and peruse our website.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the faculty members in our department.
