John C. Roberts


John C. Robert, Jr., EdD, ATC is an assistant professor and the Graduate Athletic Training Program Director in the Department of Health Sciences. He came to Concord in 2014 as the Program Director for the undergraduate Athletic Training Program and has transitioned the curriculum to a 3+2 plan where, after five years, students will earn both their Bachelor of Science in Health Science (BSHS) and Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT). In 2018, John was named the Athletic Training Educator of the Year by the West Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association. Prior to Concord John was the athletic trainer at Spotswood High School in Penn Laird, Virginia. He has clinical experience at the high school and collegiate settings and in physicals therapy clinics and had served on strategic planning committees and advisory councils for a regional hospital. Dr. Roberts’ primary professional interest is improving access to immediate health care and athletic training services for high school students. John resides in Princeton, WV with his wife, Katie, who is also an athletic trainer, and their three children. He is passionate about coaching and playing soccer, camping and kayaking, and spending time with his family.

Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Athletic Training, Old Dominion University (2001). Thesis: Effects of hormonal fluctuations throughout the menstrual cycle on joint laxity in females.
