ATHENS-CONCORD TOWN SOCIAL SET FOR AUGUST 18
 
ATHENS, W.Va. – The 33rd Annual Athens-Concord Town Social will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the front lawn of Concord University in Athens. The Town Social historically draws hundreds of people for an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment and fun. Theme for this year is “Arts Alive in Athens”.
           
Several activities related to the theme are being planned. Among these is the launch of the 2019 Fire Hydrant Paint Contest. Artists of every age are being invited to submit their designs for the contest which involves repainting fire hydrants in the Town of Athens. Design submission forms will be available at the Town Social.
           
Members of the Concord campus community, residents of Athens and guests from across the area gather at the afternoon event to socialize, enjoy live entertainment and visit craft booths, food vendors and displays by businesses and organizations. Children’s games are also part of the festivities along with recognition of campus and community service award recipients.
