CONCORD UNIVERSITY SELECTED FOR NCAA TOURNAMENT

ATHENS, W.Va. – For the first time since 2015, Concord University’s softball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament. The team was announced as the fifth seed in the Atlantic Region by the NCAA Monday morning during the Division II Softball selection show.

The Mountain Lions enter the tournament with the program record for wins in a season – 38. The team went 4-2 at the Mountain East Conference Tournament to help secure its second NCAA Tournament bid in program history.

Coach Alisa Tasler and her players will travel to West Liberty to play Shepherd on Thursday afternoon at a time to be determined later in the week. The team is part of a four-team sub region that includes West Liberty, Lock Haven and Shepherd. All games for the Mountain Lions will be played at West Liberty in the double elimination format.

The other Atlantic Region bracket includes West Virginia State, Winston-Salem State, West Chester and Gannon with all games being played at WVSU.

The two winners from each sub region will meet in a best two-of-three super regional the following weekend.

Coach Tasler and some of her players will be available for interviews at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Mountain Lion Room of the Carter Center. Please contact Wes McKinney in CU’s Sports Information office at 304-384-6259 for more information.
