Student Service Day - September 7, 2019 - 8:30-11:30 AM​

  • Football Stadium Clean-Up (15 participants)
Let’s get ready to ROAR! Help sweep the bleachers and clean the CU football stadium to prepare for the first Mountain Lion home game.

  • Day Care Clean-Up (15 participants)
The Day Care Center takes care of our little Mountain Lion cubs and we want to help take care of them! We’ll be sweeping and cleaning outdoor play areas, deep cleaning chairs, tables, lockers, and doing some light painting of benches.

  • Building Birdhouses (10 participants)
Even the birds can find a home at the Campus Beautiful! We’ll build birdhouses, paint and decorate them, and then put them up on campus and in town.

  • Suicide Prevention Awareness (10 participants)
Help us help our CU students! We’ll be researching suicide prevention facts and statistics and creating small displays to be placed around campus for National Suicide Prevention week, September 8-14, 2019.We’ll also be writing positive messages of hope to be given out to student clients of the CU Counseling Center.

Help others with just a click of your phone! Spend a couple hours on You’ll answer questions and, with each correct answer, the banner ad generates enough money for the United Nations World Food Programme to buy 10 grains of rice to help reach Zero Hunger. See how many grains of rice you can provide!

  • T-shirt Dog Toys (15 participants)
Let’s CU help our furry friends! Help us create dog toys from old, recycled t-shirts.All toys will be donated to the Mercer County Animal Shelter.

  • Kiwanis Dolls (15 participants)
Sew your way to helping children! Kiwanis dolls will be made and donated to local rescue squads. Emergency workers will use the dolls with children to identify where they are hurting after accidents and injuries. [Knowledge of sewing is helpful but not required to complete this project.]

  • Sole-Hope (15 participants)
Make it possible for someone to have a pair of shoes! We’ll be cutting and constructing shoe kits that will be donated to the Sole Hope organization. They will then distribute the shoes in Uganda to help the children and adults have healthier feet.

  • Placemats for Elderly Citizens (10 participants)
Use your artistic ability to brighten someone else's fall by cutting, decorating, and laminating fall themed placements to be used in two local nursing homes in our area, the Havens at Princeton and Glenwood Parks.

Rain date for the Football Stadium Clean-Up will be Thursday or Friday evening in advance of the first home game on September 14. Watch for an email from in case of postponement due to weather for details!

Rain date for the Day Care Clean-Up will be Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 8:30-11:30 AM. 

Projects listed in BLUE will require more physical activity.  Students with any limitations should self-identify and choose other service options requiring less physical exertion.
Also, for projects listed in BLUE, students should wear old clothing that is suitable for getting dirty and/or paint splattered.
The number in parentheses beside each listing is the maximum number of students who can participate in that project.  Please, no exceptions, as we’ll be purchasing supplies and materials for the number of students listed.

Check-In for Student Service Days will be from 8:30-9:00 AM in the Student Center - Ground Floor. Groups will be leaving for their projects promptly at 9:00 AM, so do not be late!!
